The Board of Directors and staff of the Alameda Health System Foundation mourn the passing of our Director Emeritus Clyde A. Thompson. A beloved colleague, friend and supporter, Clyde held an enduring commitment of service to providing access to health care for residents of Alameda County as an essential ingredient toward improving their lives. He joined the Board in 2001 and since then helped the Foundation fund numerous projects, programs and equipment needs at Alameda Health System’s Highland Hospital, Fairmont Rehabilitation Hospital, John George Psychiatric Hospital and three community wellness clinics in Oakland, Hayward and Newark. During Clyde’s two-year service as Board Chair from 2011-2012, in particular, his intellect and vision helped make the Alameda Health System Foundation a stronger and more effective organization. We extend our deepest sympathy to Clyde’s family and professional colleagues and share their loss of this remarkable man. A true humanitarian, he was an inspiration to us all.
