2015 Healthcare Heroes
Each year, our Annual Gala celebrates Healthcare Heroes at Alameda Health System for their extraordinary efforts in patient care.
Gary Gabriel is a New Orleans native who began working at Alameda Health System in 1996 as a per diem nurse at John George Psychiatric Hospital. In 1998, he was transferred to Unit D to work full-time in the psychiatric inpatient unit. Through his empathy, exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate, Gary is a star on the Unit D team.
Prior to Alameda Health System, Gary served in the military and worked in the San Francisco jail system, providing psychiatric services for inmates.

Charmi McCray is a Medical Clerk in the Emergency Department at Highland Hospital, where she has worked since 2001. She received the Department’s first-ever Reed Whittaker Award, which recognizes support staff for making Highland a great place to be.
Charmi is a team player who goes above and beyond to help others and comes to work with consistently bright spirit. In addition to her work and caring for her family, Charmi is taking classes at City College of San Francisco to further her career in health care.

Dr. Eric Yasumoto is a Bay Area native who joined Alameda Health System in 2008 as part of Highland Hospital’s initiative to improve and expand the Department of Radiology. He was appointed Chair of the Department in 2011 and played an integral role in opening the combined Cardiac and Interventional Radiology Services Catheterization Lab.
Dr. Yasumoto completed his medical training at Tufts University and completed his radiology residency at the MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
